The T-Rex hits the perfect balance between being an awe-inspiring Goliath of nature and a more conventional movie monster, which is exactly what makes its appearance in Jurassic Park’s original ending so iconic. Being land-based means the monster can attack anywhere, its sheer size is daunting but not as unwieldy as that of the Mosasaurus, and it can function as a movie monster without needing a Godzilla-sized setting to be effective. Fans of the original trilogy and the reboot franchise want to see dinosaurs, and there is a reason that the T-Rex has been an iconic monster since long before even the original Jurassic Park series began. Whatever Alan Grant’s character arc and the fate of the Jurassic World franchise's surviving cast members, viewers come to Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies with one major image in mind.
